Just the facts

None of this will make any sense if you do not know what led up to me becoming a Truck driver.
Several years back the pulp mill I had worked at for 31 years closed it's doors for good. Then began the odyssey of a late 50's something having to find new employment. I looked and applied for many months and kept getting nothing positive. My wife and I talked about it in great length, weighing the opportunities available, the unemployment level in the area and decided we either move to an area with more opportunities or get some retraining in a new field. We ruled out the moving thing (we both really love where we live) so that left the retraining thing. After searching for so long I had noticed the most advertised jobs... #1 was sales jobs, #2 was nursing and #3 was truck drivers. Out of those three, truck driver appealed to me the most so I enrolled in truck driver training at College of  the Redwoods, (our local Jr. college), then after passing my DMV driving test and being issued my Commercial Drivers License I began my search for a job.
Locally around Eureka I kept getting the same story... "We, require a minimum of two years expnerience". Marie and I had talked about this possibility and that I may have to go drive over the road for a few years till I have enough experience to get hired on with one of the local outfits. Thus began my search for an outfit that would offer the best deal for me. After some research I choose Werner Enterprises...applied.... got accepted, and soon was on a bus headed down to San Bernadino, now I am currently awaiting the start of orientation which begins tomorrow morning. So begins my new adventure.
